Problems with my medication
I've had epilepsy for 22 years.......it started suddenly at the age of 6 and has not been controlled by medication yet. In October 2008, my neurologist put me on Topamax, and weaned me off of my other medications. In January, I lost all sensations in my hands and feet, although so far it hasn't really done anything but slowed me down a little......I am still able to walk. Then, March 19th I was sitting at my computer when my upper lip began to tingle. This was a strange feeling, but my hands and feet sometimes feel like they are asleep and I have the pins and needles effect. When I put my hand up to my lip, I scratched my face and it was then that I realized I had no feeling in it. Over the next hour, the tingling began to spread, so I called the pharmacy. They said it would be uncommon for my medicine to be causing this in my face, and they were afraid it was something else neurological, like a stroke.........so they sent me to the ER. This medicine also makes you lose weight at a rapid rate........I lost 18 pounds in 2 weeks, and I haven't gained any back. So, the ER doc said I have a toxic amount of medicine in my system......too much for my low weight to handle. He told me to contact my neurologist to see what they wanted me to do.
That was 3 weeks ago............I have called every day and left messages, I even spoke to a nurse one day, and she paged my doctor. But I haven't heard a word back. I am at the point now that I am going to have to go to someone else, because I have to figure out what is wrong. So, I really need some prayer. Wisdom for the doctors.........and that they won't have to take me off this medicine, because it's actually working for me. It's messing with my eyesight as well, and I just really need to get it figured out.
It's the most obnoxious thing in the world to not be able to feel your face, hands and feet..........

We're praying hard!
