ADD
We've always known there was something different about our 2nd oldest child. He's always been behind for his age developmentally. For years we just figured it was because he was born a few months premature, but his twin brother has been fine. In fact, his twin brother seems several years older than him most of the time. Until this past year we didn't think it was anything to worry about.
This year he has started to fail almost every class in school even though when given a IQ test by hus guidance counselor he came out as above average. His little personality "quirks" are getting worse too. He constantly asks the strangest questions or makes odd remarks over and over. We have become at our wit's end with him lately so the school's first reaction was to test him for ADD. And after taking him to the doctor for that they put him on a low dose of Concerta and referred him to Children's to rule out anything else more serious like mild Autism or something else like that.
As a parent it is so hard to come to the realization that your child might not be "normal". I hate medicating my kids for anything unnecessary and honestly I think ADD is too overdiagnosed a lot of times. But at the same time I have no idea what to do to help him and doctor's are smarter than me in that area, I suppose.
We could use prayer as we wait to find out what is going on with our son.
