Who is Jesus to you?

I must admit I like to watch the news on lunch and read up on stories online. In recent days I read a story titled “Who is Jesus”. Boy the author sure had it all wrong. Most of the story was spent trying to debunk Jesus. It's sad to say that when it comes close to a Holiday set aside to celebrate Jesus Christ it seems as if all the negative stories come out. Isn’t it interesting how much power is in the name Jesus. Anyways, back to Who Jesus is. I believe Jesus said it best when he questioned the disciples.

(Matthew 16:13-14) Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14) And they said, Some say that thou art Jon the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

The world sure likes to try and proclaim who Jesus was but they can’t do so if their not saved. They lack wisdom and understanding.
Proverbs 14:16 states that, A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

That’s so true that the world rageth against the trueth and are confident in their beliefs. I believe that’s the reason our country is facing the turmoil we are. Sure the world will never be perfect. Christ said he didn’t come to save the world, but the good news is he came to save us if we’d just repent and believe in him. I’m not talking religion. I’m talking Salvation. There is a difference maybe we can get into that some other time.

But as Matthew 16:15 asks But whom say ye that I am? Who is Jesus to you? That’s what each and everyone of us aught to ask ourselves. Jesus is to me my life, my deliverer, my rock on which I stand, the foundation on which I build my life upon, my relief in stressful times, a true friend who’s with me through everything, the one and only perfect lamb who gave himself  to die on a cross in the place of our sins. Simon said it all in verse 16) Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. I’m so thankful that Christ is the Son of the LIVING GOD!

Man did not reveal this unto Simon but God himself. It’s the same way today. A man may stand behind the pulpit but it’s not him that speaks to the heart it’s the Holy Spirit. Christ told Simon in verse 17) Blessed art thou Simon Bar-jona for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee but my Father which is in Heaven.

God still speaks to hearts today and that’s the only way anyone can be saved is through the Preached Gospel. And the Preaching must be done in Spirit. We as Christians must not allow the world to explain who Jesus is because they are unwise and without understanding until they to are saved.

God Bless you all in your works. May your works uplift the name of Jesus Christ for all to see just who Jesus is.  Our Lord.

PS. Sorry for any spelling errors.

Jeff,   First, about the

Jeff,
First, about the difference in religion and salvation...Brian wrote a great blog talking about that, so if anyone wants to know more about the difference there are several scriptural references there.
Also, I took the title of your blog as a personal invitation :)  Jesus is my Savior, my Protector, my Hero, my Comforter, my Security, and so much more.  It's amazing to me the change that's taking place in how I look at Him and how I think about Him.  He's so much more than we can imagine, but thankfully, He reveals Himself to us if we're looking.
I guess it's part of human nature (especially for women) to feel the need to be protected, wanted, comforted...that has definitely been my experience.  It used to be that I would feel frustrated that the people in my life could never quite live up to my expectations.  I always wanted someone to be there EVERY time I needed to be comforted.  I wanted someone to go to great lengths to protect me...from pain, from danger, from discomfort.  (I sound pretty high maintenance, huh? LOL)   The point is, I never felt satisfied until l gave my life to God and SOUGHT Him.  When I was first saved, I had the comfort of knowing I was going to Heaven, but when I started studying my Bible and trying to learn more and more about Him...that's when I started to understand all He has to offer us.  That's when I started to know I could depend on Him to provide me comfort when I scared and protection from my enemies and strength when I'm weak.  All the things I was looking for in others, I found in Jesus.

What He Is......

You make a very excellent point!  I had this on my myspace blog, and I thought it fit, so here it is, sorry it is so long!

I hate that everything that is on the news is so bad.  You can't turn on any news station without some mention of a crime......heck, even the weather report is bad!  But, with all the madness and mayham that goes on in our country, there is one thing that won't ever have a bad report, and that is Jesus!  I love this thing, I found it on a website about Rachel Scott, one of the victims of the Columbine shootings.  I think her story is incredible, she is an amazing testimony of what having faith in God can do........here it is, 10 years later and her story is a chain reaction, it won't ever end!  I love the part that says, "He always was, is, and will be:
Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone."
Can I get an Amen?! ~Chele

JESUS IS:

Lord God Almighty, Omnipotent King, Lion of Judah,
Rock of Ages, Prince of Peace, King of Kings,
Lord of Lords, Provider, Protector, Paternal Leader,
Ruling Lord and Reigning King of all the universe.

He is Father, Helper, Guardian and God. He is the
First and Last, the Beginning and the End. He is
the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all He keeps.
The Architect of the universe and the Manager of all times.

He always was, is, and will be:
Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone.
He was bruised and brought healing. He was pierced
and eased pain. He was persecuted and brought freedom.
He was dead and brought life. He is risen and brings
power. He reigns and brings Peace.

The world can't understand Him, the armies can't defeat
Him, the schools can't explain Him, and the leaders can't
ignore Him. Herod couldn't kill Him, the Pharisees
couldn't confuse Him, the people couldn't hold Him!
Nero couldn't crush Him. Hitler couldn't silence Him,
the New Age can't replace Him
and Ted Turner can't explain Him away!

He is light, love, longevity, and Lord. He is goodness,
kindness, gentleness, and God. He is Holy, Righteous,
mighty, powerful, and pure. His ways are right, His Word
is eternal, His will is unchanging, and His mind is on me!

His is my redeemer, He is my Saviour, He is my guide, He is
my peace, He is my Joy, He is my comfort, He is my Lord and
He rules my life. I serve Him because His bond is love,
His burden is light, and His goal for me is abundant life.

I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise, the power
of the powerful, the ancient of days, the ruler of rulers,
the leader of leaders, the overseer of the overcomers, and
the sovereign Lord of all that was, is and is to come. And
if that seems impressive to you, try this for size. His goal
is a relationship with ME! He will never leave me, forsake me,
mislead me, forget me, overlook me, and never cancel my
appointment in His appointment book!

When I fall, He lifts me up. When I fail, He forgives me.
When I am weak, He is strong. When I am lost, He is The Way.
When I am afraid, He is my courage. When I stumble, He steadies
me. When I am hurt, He heals me.
When I am broken, He mends me.

When I am blind, He leads me. When I am hungry, He feeds me.
When I face trials, He is with me. When I face persecution,
He stills me. When I face problems, He comforts me. When I face
loss, He provides for me. When I face Death, He carries me Home!

He is everything for everybody, everywhere, every time, and in
every way. He is God, He is faithful, I am His, and He is mine.
My Father in Heaven can whip the father of this world, and so,
if you're wondering why I feel so secure, understand this:
He said it, and that settles it.

God is in control, I am on His side, and that means
all is well with my soul.

~ Scripture ~
"Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and of good courage;
do not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9
