He Changed Me

If you do NOT believe that God is still the same God today then I pray that you will read this story. God has revealed to me that He has some work for my family and I and while I am striving to be obedient to each request, He is confirming events that are happening in my life along the way.

 

First I want to mention that God’s Word states in Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

 

This is so true still today even though some may argue the point. I want to share with you some things God has been doing in my life. We have been visiting churches for a while, looking for where God wants us to be and I have been praying that God would send some other Christian men into my life that I could discuss His word with. I feel that as Christians we need to be able to talk with other Christians about God’s word and through sharing among each other, we all will grow closer to God, spiritually.

 

During September God gave me this opportunity. A friend of mine invited me out to a men’s group across the street from where I live. I could feel my spirit hungering to go so I said sure. Of course, when the day came I thought… I am just going to stay home… how could this help me grow… BUT… I went, and thank God I did! Little did I know that this would be the beginning of something big that God wanted me to see.

 

During the first meeting with the guys we went out for dinner. I was amazed at how open they all were, talking about God in the middle of a restaurant. This was an AWESOME thing for me to see and I felt as if I had known these guys forever and I knew then that I could share with them anything God put on my heart! After dinner we went and watched a POWERFUL devotional by David Wilkerson called “A Call to Anguish”. WOW POWERFUL! Take a glance at the video for yourself it is an AWESOME story itself and so true. We all discussed the video among each other and then it started… the one POWERFUL thing I have come to realize I have not been using to its full strength… PRAYER.

 

I have learned that prayer is POWERFUL if you use it correctly. I have always been one to sit down, say a quick prayer and continue with my day. However, during my first meeting with the guys the Spirit came down and visited with me during the prayer. I have NEVER prayed like this. The devil was there trying to make me wonder of what I would say when it was time for me to pray… but I kept asking God to remove him from my mind and He did. The best way I can explain it was that it felt as if my body was falling into a deep sleep. I felt my mind leaving my body and my spirit taking control, then I prayed as I have never prayed before. WOW this was only the beginning too, but I understand now why.

 

After our men’s group my dear friend said, “You really need to come to our church.” I knew then that my family and I had to go and visit this church…

 

As I said before this is only the beginning of what God is doing in my life and I want to share it all with you here. The story will be called “The Path” and I will write part two some time during this week.
